Student Osteopaths (SOMA)

INFORMATION FOR SOMA MEMBERS GRADUATING IN 2010

For all SOMA students completing their studies at the end of 2010, AOA membership forms and 2010 Graduate Packages relating to registration, insurance etc, have been couriered to your SOMA rep to distribute. If you do not receive your pack, please contact your SOMA rep.
It’s complicated!

The AOA is aware of the complicated process of how you can’t join the AOA until you are qualified and registered; you can’t register until you are insured and you can’t get AOA Guild insurance rates as you are not an AOA member.
A typical catch 22!

The AOA  is removing some of the complication by offering graduating SOMA members a special rate…..join the AOA by 17 December 2010 and save over $90!
(AOA Student membership expires December 2010)
Save money, delays and complications - join by 17 December 2010 and only pay the February 2011 fee.

Whilst you cannot practice before you have your National Registration, you will be a member of the AOA and be entitled to apply for the AOA Guild insurance policy.

Membership Fees
The AOA membership year runs from 1 July – 30 June. Current SOMA members are exempt from the $165 joining fee until COB on 31 March 2011.

*Special 1st Year in Practice membership offer for current
SOMA members graduating in 2010:
Join by COB 17 December 2010; only pay the $229.25 February 2011 rate.
(See fees on membership form in Grad Pack)

Membership Type
As a new Graduate, your membership type is 1st Year in Practice.
Join in December 2010 to receive 18 months membership at the 1st Year in Practice rate.

Qualifications
The AOA will receive a list of graduating students direct from the University and will accept this as evidence of your qualification for membership application purposes.

Registration
Current National Registration is a condition of membership of the AOA.
There is no need to provide a copy of your National Registration certificate with your application. This is because we can search the online AHPRA Registers of Practitioners for evidence of your registration.

Insurance
Your Student membership number does not entitle you to the reduced Professional Indemnity Insurance.
Take advantage of the special membership offer above to be entitled to receive the AOA Guild insurance policy.

For further information please contact the AOA on (02) 9410 0099.
